Meet the Librarian

Welcome! I am so excited about the HBMS library!!

I am a graduate of Hokes Bluff High School and am very thankful to be part of this faculty!  My educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Education of the Hearing Impaired from JSU, a master's degree in Learning Disabilities from the University of Alabama, coursework in Vision Impairments from UAB, and a master's add-on in Library Science from JSU. Professionally, I am a member of the Alabama School Library Association and have earned the Google Level 1 Certification.  In addition to being the librarian, I am the school Technology Coordinator and am involved with the Student Council, First Priority, and Peer Helpers!

Reading has always been a favorite hobby of mine, and I love sharing books with the students!  It is important to me that they discover the magic of opening a book and being transported to another time and place!

I am married and have two children, a dog, and several cats.  My favorite places to visit are the beach, the mountains, and of course, Disney World.

Some of my favorite books include Warcross and Legend by Marie Lu, The Selection by Kiera Cass, Cinder by Marissa Meyer, The Truth As Told By Mason Buttle by Leslie Connor, The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley, Wonder by RJ Palacio, and 100 Days by Nicole McInnes.

My favorite movies include Jaws and the Jurassic Park movies!
