Step 1- All committing members need to sign a pledge card, as well as any new members that are added
later. Contact the Board of Directors for chapter approval by emailing contact@standforthesilent.com.
Step 2- Find an adult to sponsor your chapter.
Step 3- Create a name for your chapter as well as a mission statement to describe your group’s personal
goals. Here is a sample mission statement from an existing SFTS chapter: “Mission Statement: Our goal
is to stand in for those who cannot by speaking up and raising awareness of bullying. Being a voice for
this issue provides hope that it will someday cease to exist.”
Step 4- Hold an election to appoint officers for your chapter, to include a minimum of Pres., V.P., Sec.,
and Treasurer.
Step 5- Decide where, and how often your chapter will meet.
Step 6- During your meetings; discuss how you can spread the Stand For The Silent message. Discuss
ways to impact your school and community, how to fundraise* for group activities, or develop skits/plays
to perform to show others not only the impact that being bullied can have, but how to prevent /stop it or to
offer support to a victim.
(Think about performing these at elementary schools or for talent shows. Ideas: SFTS parade float,
posters or flyers, mixers, sky's the limit! Several other ideas available, just ask).
(*Funds raised are to be used for your school chapter. For example, if your chapter has a car wash or
bake sale to cover the cost of a float/ dance, that money should be used to spread bullying prevention in
your area. If you want to “pay it forward” to another school to cover the cost of bringing the SFTS
presentation to a new area, these fundraisers should be limited to one/ year).
** Additional note: think about forming a peer mediation group. High schoolers can then mediate for
lower classmen, and so on and so forth. Find all other rules and regulations in the constitution which will
be provided upon approval of the chapter.
