HBMS Book Club met during December to discuss our first book, The Ghost of Graylock, by Don Pablocki.  Most of the members thought this was a very scary book, and almost everyone gave it a thumbs-up!  After discussing the book, members drew scary character masks!  Everyone is looking forward to our next book, which will be announced soon!!

Get Away @ Your Library started at HBMS with all classes visiting the library for a preview of our upcoming Book Fair!!  Wow! What an awesome collection of titles that will be heading our way in a couple of weeks!  Students had fun having their picture made with their favorite books at our Photo Booth!  And because reading for pleasure is an individual choice, students made thumbprint magnets out of clay. On Friday, students participated in an upcycling project of creating bags from old t-shirts.  We also spent part of the week discussing internet safety with our 8th grade classes. Thank you to all of the students and teachers for your participation that made this Teen Read Week so much fun!

Well, we are back to school in the HBMS library!  If there was any doubt, just check out the book return!  We have already had library orientation, and now we are getting back into the rhythm of life in the library.  That means not just checking out books and devouring our selection of magazines, but doing creative activities in our Library Lab.  For now, you can see students researching folk art to help paint our Folk Art Stools, learning the parts of the library through scavenger hunts, having their minds blows with math quizzes, and working together to Help Save Fred!  It is always busy, but that makes it fun!
